Never Shake a Baby

Never Shake a Baby is a program offered at no charge to local high school and junior high school students, school faculty, day care workers, foster parents, teen pregnancy groups, parenting groups and other organizations.

A CoxHealth representative will spend 50 minutes presenting on the following topics:

• Preventing shaken baby syndrome and abusive head trauma, the deadliest form of child abuse
• The stress of parenting and how to handle prolonged crying
• Immediate and long-term effects on victims and perpetrators.

The goal of the program is to help future parents and caregivers realize the dangers of shaking a child and that child abuse is 100 percent preventable.
