Local support made 2017 a record year for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at CoxHealth. Thanks to generous donors, $1,932,604 was raised in total to help local kids and their families through the purchase of life-saving equipment, need-based financial assistance, education and health care.
“It’s incredible to be part of a community that’s so giving and supportive,” says Tim Siebert, executive director of CMN Hospitals at CoxHealth. “While we never want anyone to feel the need for assistance, we are extremely grateful that so many people are willing to help fill the gaps we have for local children and their families.”
Since CoxHealth covers all of CMN Hospitals’ operating expenses locally, 100 percent of all gifts and proceeds help area children. A few examples of what donations support include:
- The Special Needs Fund, which offers direct financial assistance for special medical needs that are not covered by private insurance or Medicaid. This includes prosthetics, wheelchairs, leg braces, hearing aids, prescriptions and travel expenses for out-of-town doctor’s appointments.
- Family Care Grants, which provide financial assistance for families whose children have been hospitalized or need specialized therapy.
- Educational programs including Wasted, an anti-drinking and driving campaign; Never Shake a Baby, to prevent Shaken Baby Syndrome; and CARDIAC Kids, a program that identifies area children at risk for developing heart disease or diabetes and teaches them how to live a healthy life. Other educational programs focus on car seat, water and bicycle safety.
- The C.A.R.E. Mobile, a mobile health clinic providing health screenings and immunizations to children who have limited access to health care.
- CoxHealth’s Child Life program, a four-person team dedicated to helping create a sense of normalcy for kids who are hospitalized, consequently aiding the healing process.
- School-based telemedicine, which allows local kids to receive health care at school and get back to class more quickly.
Because contributions to CMN Hospitals at CoxHealth have such a wide impact throughout the community, Siebert encourages individuals and companies to donate.
“We really try to support the community in a variety of ways,” says Siebert. “All contributions, both big and small, can make a difference in the lives of the children and families we serve.”
In addition to monetary donations, the organization also accepts stocks and bonds, real estate, personal property, life insurance policies, certificates of deposit, retirement funds, as well as wills and bequests.

The CoxHealth Foundation and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals staff played Santa this morning to one lucky employee donor.
The CoxHealth Foundation and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals gives each employee donor one entry into the drawing for each month they are a donor each year. All proceeds from the employee campaign are used to support patient care at CoxHealth for those things patients need, but cannot afford. “The impact is life changing for our patients, we are so grateful for the over 2,500 employee donors at CoxHealth,” says Lisa Alexander, president of the CoxHealth Foundation. “The giveaway is just a little way of saying THANK YOU to all our employees who go above and beyond in addition to all they do each day to deliver quality care.

Hamra Enterprises’ Wendy’s division has once again selected Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals as its charity of choice for 2017. The partnership, now in its fourth year, raised nearly $100,000 for CMN Hospitals in 2016 – funds that greatly benefited local children and their families.
“We had a very successful campaign and partnership with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in 2016,” said Chuck Ocarz, president of Hamra Enterprises’ Wendy’s Division. “We are looking forward to what is in store for 2017 with goals to meet and hopefully exceed what we raised in 2016 for CMN Hospitals.”
As a corporation that cares deeply for the welfare of children, Hamra Enterprises will raise funds throughout the year at each of its 35 Wendy’s locations to assist local children suffering from injuries and illnesses. Funds are raised through the sale of $1 paper miracle balloons during certain months, which are currently on sale through April 23. Canisters are also placed near cash registers throughout the year where customers can donate their change.
“We are humbled and grateful that we were selected as Hamra Enterprises’ charity of choice for the fourth year in a row,” says Tim Siebert, executive director of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at CoxHealth. “We depend on the generosity of businesses, individuals, foundations and organizations to bring hope and healing to children who might otherwise go without the medical attention they desperately need. We thank Hamra Enterprises for the care and compassion they are sharing with the children and families we serve.”
