Wayne and Jo Scheer recently pledged $700,000 to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at CoxHealth to help support the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and the new Swing Unit at Cox South.
The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit will be called the Wayne and Jo Scheer Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and the Swing Unit will be called the Scheer Family Swing Unit. The Scheers’ donation will support lifesaving pediatric equipment in the swing unit and PICU, as well as other needs that may arise in the units.
“We have been involved with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals for many years and feel so strongly about its mission in helping children,” Wayne says. The Scheers note that they have been blessed with three healthy children and nine healthy grandchildren, two of whom started out in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at CoxHealth and are now 23 year-old healthy athletes at Drury University.
“Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at CoxHealth has helped so many families in our community. We pray our legacy of support, where the money raised is used locally, will help sustain and further enhance the medical care provided to children in our region.”
“We are grateful for Wayne and Jo’s generosity,” says Tim Siebert, executive director, Children’s Miracle Network. “From the tiniest babies needing critical neonatal care to teenagers suffering from chronic diseases and life-threatening injuries, Wayne and Jo’s care and compassion, expressed through this important gift, will positively impact local children with medical needs for years to come.”
